Burgundy 1er Crus – 23×2 (linking)
Google MyMaps assists with linking the Villages
In learning the 1er Crus of Burgundy, the first step is to identify the most-relevant examples. This can be done using a statistical model, by examining Delectable.com ratings for each Burgundy Village. The method of identifying a single top-Cru is called 23×1.
A second method is explored, based in geography. As seen in a custom Google map below, the Villages of the Côte d’Or have been indicated from north to south. This map is an intriguing alternative to the off-compass versions commonly seen in book and typical wine maps. Simply put, the crus are visible in a true north-south orientation.
From a total of 460 1er Crus in the Côte d’Or, a succint 46 is represented herein. The focus is on bordering vineyards, which can call “anchors”. These anchors act like reference points, so that any Cru can be found by comparison. Zoom in to see these crus, and use the Google side-bar to toggle various categories.
